Increased social and community participation
Windaan understands how important it is for you to have strong social connections and be involved in community. We work with you by using skills-based learning to develop your ability to access these activities.
All the supports under this category are designed to help build your skills and confidence to do things independently. This can include things like getting to appointments, using transport, paying bills, joining activities – or any other goals you have for community and social participation.
Windaan’s social and community participation supports come under four categories.

Case study
In the school holidays, Windaan took a group of young people on day trips to Scotts Head Beach and Coffs Harbour Golf Driving Range. Participants were supported to save money for the trips, plan to catch the bus, and have everything needed ready for each day.
These one-day trips provided the opportunity to socialise and make new friends while doing fun things.

Case study
Elanora was living in her own home but was having difficulty with preparing meals. Windaan helped her to organise Meals on Wheels to deliver meals five days per week. They also organised a key-lock box at her home, so that emergency services could get in easily if needed. With these supports, Elanora was able to continue living in her home.
